Don't take me wrong here, I'm not trying to fight you Razz I'm just interested about how other people received it. But maybe that's why I didn't think so much of it that they produced it themselves, I suppose if they haven't been doing that before then it will be a little step backwards... Hopefully they'll do something next which will be better. Smile

Although with the lyrics and stuff, it felt to me like they were trying too hard to be epic and it just came across and comparatively lame. But yeah in general I guess it was their style of lyrics.

Oh no I felt like I was being overly offensive ha. Muse is kinda like Shikari in that you never really know what you are going to get next ha. And I kinda see the epic lyrics thing. There are definitely moments where Matt just took it too far ha.

panic at the disco would be one for me too. they had such a good sound that was original at the time, and they ruined it with all that wish-washy pish that came after a fever you cant sweat out.

dont hate me, but i kind of see shikari in a different light too. they've been lovely people every time i've met them so that's not my point, but the way they're so 'political' annoys me a bit. i still like the music but i do find common dreads a bit too preachy for my liking, and it worries me that there's fourteen/fifteen year old kids out there who think they know whats going on in government just because shikari focus on a lot of its negative attributes in their lyrics.

Avenged Toilet-fold: used to love them till I turned 18 and realised they are pretty much everything I hate in a band, their image is gay as fuck and as far as I'm concerned they are the Nickleback of metal.

Toilet For My Valentine: I just find their music embarrassing to listen to, I think it was Lee who once said that Matt Tuck looks like a 12 year old mini-mosher you see in clothing catalogs, hit the nail right on the head with that one.

Hollywood Undead: I can't think of how to work toilet into their name, I used to think they were funny, then they started taking themselves seriously and instead of laughing at the lyrics I was just laughing at them in general.

Pretty much every pop-punk band I was ever into, it's just such uninspired music.

Green Day when they went 'political' by calling George Bush stupid and not really addressing any issues anymore than your average 14 year old punxorz saying"fuck da system"
There are probably plenty more but no one else really springs to mind at the moment.

Sum 41. Used to have an obsession... I almost never listen to their music. I still love them though. I'm pretty excited to see them at Warped, just not like I would've been 2 years ago.

Three Days Grace. I've realized how boring they are... All of their music sounds the same, especially on this new album.

Breaking Benjamin. Same band as Three Days Grace, with a different vocalist...

Linkin Park. I never liked the last album, but I just don't listen to even their old stuff anymore either....

And a lot of other random pop punk music...

Lostprophets - used to adore them and just totally went off them once I found Shikari really. The time gap between Liberation Transmission and The Betrayed was just too much considering how disappointing I found The Betrayed.

Nightwish - Once Tarja got fired I lost interest.

Did this today bossman, brilliant call! I saw it in the Guardian and thought 'nah, that'll be gash' but it's ace. It's a shame the man who threw it together had to take it down 'cause the label (on B.I.G's side) throw a hissy.

I know what you mean about them trying to be political. Rou spoke about it briefly in an interview about it saying it was meant to be there but it wasn't meant to be a key feature of their music. Step Up and FFFTCM are my least favourite songs on the album because of this.
What happened to their music just being about having fun Smile
