I don't see the difference between getting a tat that means something or just getting a design you love. This is why I don't like those tattoo reality shows, they only show people getting these meaningful tattoos and just makes it seem almost like you shouldn't get tattoos unless it's in memory of something/someone or whatever and if it's not, regardless of how much you love the design and want nothing more than to have it etched in your skin forever it's just the same as getting some shitty spur of the moment tattoo cause 'it was funny at the time', which is bloody rubbish! People should get tattoos cause they like tattoos
Niamh wrote:There were girls yesterday that came in and said they wanted a tattoo, and when the girl behind the counter asked what one they just said they didn't know, they just wanted one.
That does my head in, people like that are the exact sort of people who shouldn't get tattoos, just decide they should have one to say they've got one, stroll into a parlour on a whim and pick any random design for the sake of it not cause they actually liked the design or cause it means something, as if it's some trendy fashion accessory.
All I think people need to do when considering a tattoo is actually give it a good think, regardless of why you want it or what it's of, it needs to be something you can look at years after getting it and still think "I fucking love this!"

^ I see your point, because what means a lot to you at a certain point in your life might not mean the same later on. Like lyrics, they might mean loads to you now but when you're a lot older they might mean nothing. My tattoos don't really mean anything, they're just pretty and I loved the designs instantly.

I'd like a tattoo behind my ear, I've thought about it for a couple of years and planned it out but now I'm actually 18, not got round to it yet... I'm a bit scared of how much it's going to hurt, compared to my piercings, and if it will be alot worse purely because it's behind my ear haha.

It didn't really hurt until the guy started shading it. It feels like scraping, that's it. I shat myself before cos a couple of people were telling me it'll kill me cos it's behind my ear.. it was fine? :/

When i was 15/16 i used to want so many piercings and tattoos. Looking back, it was all abit silly. I could never afford things! Although, ive wanted my lip pierced for two years, but due to work have never been able to get it done.
As soon as i turned 16 i went against my mum and had two surface piercings on my hips... they were infected (like actual green puss coming out off them) for 3 months cos my skin rejected them, untill i had no choice but to take them out. I still have the scars which are really obvious. Dont be a silly teenager kids!

Getting an ES tattoo is going a bit too far in my humble opinion.

I really want my 1/2 sleeve now. Whats the better way to go? Gradually build it up with tattoo after tattoo, or get a complete sleeve designed?

Depends on you, generally most complete sleeves are Japanese esque or have a strong theme i.e nautical. For a half sleeve i'd get something thats complete rather than loads of little things, unless you want to make it into a full sleeve.

My mate spent months gathering difference images he wanted on his sleeve. Then took it to a shop and asked them what would work. They put it all together for him and made it flow.. added bits in and took stuff out. He got it outlined in one session and goes back every so often to get bits coloured and shaded. Its so fucking awesome.

The Killers are all going to rape small boys and you'll regret it. Mark my word (looks neat btw)

My sleeve is going to cost £800, I'm penciled in for the 7th and 9th of April. Its mainly roses, featuring a swallow and a few other bits. Hard to describe but its sexy Very Happy

Having song lyrics is fine if they mean something to you, whether you stop liking the band or not, if the lyrics are good and important to you then that's fine. However, band names are a big mistake for fairly obvious reasons!
