Pendulum

Post by Ryan on Sat 17 Oct 2009, 11:00 pm

I'm surprised there isn't a thread about Pendulum already on here so i've decided to post one on here now, i've only seen them once Sad but it was one of the best gigs ever, can't wait for their 3rd album should hopefully be out by the end of the year, but it probably won't be out until February. They'll no doubt be playing T in the Park next year so i'll probably go and see them there and that is of course if i have the cash to pay for a ticket. Not gonna be cheap though, travel and booze will probably take it close to £200.

"I hate black music SO much"
"Crap"

Is there any music that you do like? Why be so negative? Pendulum arent my favourite band, and I don't like them as much as I used to, but they certainly arent crap.

Love them. Makes me laugh when people say "In Silico" was a crap album, it wasn't. It just wasn't a proper drum n' bass album. Still good though and totally their own style, it was original pretty much. However I prefer Hold Your Colour by miles, can't wait for their third album. Especially since I heard Ransom. (minus the shit MC for Noisia)

It's Pendulum's track, but played in a Noisia DJ set and it's got some MC over it, but it's still sick as fuck. CANNOT WAIT.

New album is so much better than In Silico, probably better than their first as well. So pumped for the MK bowl show. Song with In Flames is pretty interesting haha.

I think they should of put Self Vs. Self on the end of the album, it's a good track but just doesn't fit the album.

Gutted Ransom isn't on the album but gonna be a B-side or download or something apparently.

Most of the album is proper good, only got a crap rip at the moment but sounds awesome. Too many favourite tracks to pick one right now.

EDIT: Now have epic quality rip of epic quality album. Can't fault

Oh man really need to get my ticket and some transport and some sleeping arrangements sorted pronto for MK after having a skip through the album. Sounds promising atm, seems they've taken In Silico synth's and Hold Your Colours drums and mashed em together and taken out the shitty bits Very Happy

This band are just terrible. Just listened to immersion, it's the corniest soundtrack since F-Zero X on the N64. Is there a niche/fad these guys haven't desperately tried to fit into? It's almost reminds me of when some band I know threw some dubstep on their album sparingly when they clocked it was getting bi...oh wait.

Until music gets good again and all these middle-class fagz stop brown-nosing subpar genre killers I'll be in my corner listening to Canned Heat on loop. At least I won't want to stab someone then, that songs awsum.

Bullshit.

That shit pisses me off 'If you can't define your own music or fit into the genre of music that's already there then fuck off.'

If it sounds good then why the fuck do you have to bother with all that shit?
I've never hated a band because of anything other than the music doesn't sound good. Tbh I don't even listen to lyrics.

A big part of being in a band is experimentation. I know that for a fact.
And just because a band incorporates many different types of genre into one album that makes them bad? So one MAYBE two of the songs from immersion are dubsteppy what the fuck has that got to do with the price of cheese? Sure, dubstep is getting big but if they really were doing it for the masses wouldn't the whole album be dubstep?

Personally Pendulum are a great band and they've been about a LOT longer than many bands who 'Defined genres' these days.

Pendulum are the quorn of drum and bass, its like drum and bass for people who like the idea of drum and bass but don't want to actually listen to it. It also sounds like they stole the chords for 'The Fountain' from 'Just One Second' by London Elektricity. Poor show.

Pendulum are immense.

Some DnB and its little brother Dub are ok, a LOT of it sounds like its made out of migranes and PMT.

The problem with music now is its so disposable that trends move like lightening and its becoming more and more trendy to listen to something "original" regardless of quality.

that said, I love pendulum.

Anyone got the new album yet? Mine came in the post yesterday and it is AWESOME (sang in a really high pitched voice). It's good as a whole album rather than just a few individual tracks standing out which I don't think they managed previously.

Re: Pendulum

Post by Jed on Sun 30 May 2010, 2:35 am

Aye I've got it, got it about a week before release in 320 luckily. I think Pendulum are a great band. I mean they're pretty much not part of the drum n' bass scene any more because of tthe fact they moved from 3 talented DnB DJ's to a 5 piece rock/DnB band. I'd much prefer them to be proper DJ's and make songs like they did back in like 2004/2005 but bands do experiment and they do change. I don't like it when people say a certain band are shit because their latest album isn't particularly good. They could always say I like Album 1 but don't like Album 2. Alot of it is narrow-minded opinion because everybody else doesn't like it. If you went on DoA and asked who likes Pendulum you'd get like 1/10 people.

Immersion is good anyway, not as good as Hold Your Colour by any means but far better than In Silico. However I don't think it matters what genre they are or how commercial they are, if they sound good, I'll listen to them.

Obviously you can always compare albums and people will like some more than others, but I find it annoying when people say stuff like "they're some kind of mild drum and bass", because that's just trying to judge it as one genre instead of just listening to the music on it's own...

Hahaha.

Pendulum are fun as live, and the new album is much better than no. 2. The riffs in most of the songs are cheesy and easy as fuck, but it's easily digestible for them that aint into dnb that much. They're massively over rated, and there's much better stuff out there, but it's easy to see why they're so big.
