The human body is so intricatly designed, every creature is so perfectly formed that there is no way it was done by chance.[/quote]

That's fair enough, but how I see why we are perfectly formed is by years and years of adaptation. There probably was a time years and years ago where we weren't perfectly formed. Adaptation is a proven science.

I mean the basis of our existance....the respiratory system, memory, blood system etc etc. Not the fact we can grasp things and stand up straighter than our ancestors.

That's what I meant. It all has probably developed over millions and millions of years. Why are bodies are constantly getting stronger and stronger. Hence why life expectation has gone up throughout the years.

The fact humans wrote the bible is another reason I don't believe in the stories of God and all that malarky.
They could've made up as much as they want. It could've been completely biased. There's chinese whispers stories in there probably.
The fact people claim God is the highest power yet it's humans preaching his word confuses me.

Someone said to me today that evolution cant be right. it took us 10,000 years to build a hammer, and in a thousand years we've gone from that to touchscreen technology. Dunno if i agree with that personaly.

Technology is just like a waterfall. Once the ability to harness electricity was created, all sorts of possibilities could roll off that. Technology is being developed and developed faster and faster. I feel the day the world will end will be the day that speed development of technology is greater than we can handle.

At college when I study Classics (Ancient History & Literature) we have to debate about how the God's favour Odysseus, about how women are treated as slaves etc etc, and its hard for us to do it due to our Christian background.

Take for instance back in the Greek times around 420BC a man could carry around a sword and just kill who ever the fuck he wanted. Today we do that we're banged up, back then a man could rape a woman just because, again if we did that today we'd be locked up. As much as you may say, "no this is because its the right thing to do"...well its only right due to our Christian background. The reason today we marry one person at a time, is again a Christian idea.

I mean alot of the stuff we're brought up upon today, not matter if we believe in God/Christianity or not is still of a Religious background (my point is debatable among some societies) , take for example the fact that we dont just go up to someone and kill the them in revenge for murdering your brother.

As much as I dont believe in God/religion we still do and will most likely always have a Christian society in the things that are right and wrong to do. Of course we will always have people spawn occasionally who would rather see the world burn (Hitler, Bin Laden etc)

As much as we may not believe in God, The Bible, we will (unless human nature takes a turn for the worst) have a Christian sense in what is right and wrong.

I wouldn't necessarily say "turn for the worst" on every aspect of the Christian sense of right and wrong, but you do make a good point.

not being harsh, but that's all it currently is until i get some real proof.
i bet if i prayed to god every night for him to strike me dead on the spot with no natural causes evident, i wouldn't happen.

and i really like Josh's POV, but we can't help that the "christian lifestyle" has become the social norm nowadays. it's what we've gotta do, and alot of them are right really, because it's the law and the law has only improved over time, even if there are major flaws within it.

One of the problems I have with religion is that it indirectly promotes not being the best you can while you're alive. It's pretty much "Didn't do something right/spend enough time with someone while you were alive? Don't worry! You can in the afterlife" where as if you believed this is it, you'd be more inclined to try harder to accomplish things while you're alive, because you're under the mindset that there's no second chance or period after to do whatever you don't do here. For example, thinking you'll see someone again in the afterlife. While it's a very comforting thought, it's like it doesn't matter if you don't spend enough time with them while alive because you can in the afterlife, which is wrong in my opinion because it makes it acceptable to not spend time with them. It's a bit hard for me to put in words sorry ha. My teacher called me cynical last week. I think that's somewhat true, but I prefer the term realistic, because that's what I try to be. The "only living once" card has two sides though. Can't do everything bad because, you only live once and you don't want to waste it. But on the other hand, can't always be safe because you only live once and a little bit of danger/mischief is good.

The reason i used that word is because most of the people on here are going on about not believing in God.....
And the only things people relate God to nowadays is the common concept of a. The Bible. b. Heaven and Hell. c. God being some supreme being who decides to keep you alive or not.

So you just proved my point really by saying... "i bet if i prayed to god every night for him to strike me dead on the spot with no natural causes evident, i wouldn't happen."

I just don't understand why I should believe in any kind of god.
I also don't get why people say that bad things happening to you or others is their god 'testing your faith' why the hell would he/she/it do that?

Yes it is, but that doesn't mean it can't be true. Maxims are opinions but are usually regarded as being correct (not saying that's a maxim, but there's an example). Do you have an issue with that statement though?

Most I've encountered reply with "He/she/it works in mysterious ways that we can't understand, so we can't know." Since when do we give up trying to understand something that we currently don't?

TBH, I think a God wouldnt want to readily intervene ALL the time. It would be impossible to answer every prayer, stop every murder etc etc.

I think he created the earth and has sat back and let it flow as we choose to have it.

Not sure though.
