The Recession

Post by kappa99 on Sat 27 Feb 2010, 11:44 pm

So, its apprently "over". Ok, the economy may have grown slightly, but that is pretty much irrelevant.

All over the place, people are losing jobs, businesses are closing and morale is at a pretty low end.

The Labour government is STILL borrowing £500m A DAY to try and spend its way out of this (Spending to get out of debt, I know) and many forecasters expect Britain to end up running close to the mire Grece and Ireland are in...many foreign investors are starting to have concerns that Britain will be unable to repay this debt.

We can expect tax increases, more job losses, petrol to go through the roof over the next few years.

I am getting a bit worried about how bad Britain really is.

I read somewhere that apparently when the true figures come out it'll most probably say that we we're not out of the recession yet.

My mum hasn't had a job since July last year, it sucks.
She has only just started getting interviews too, i don't think the recession is over yet.

Malky your always broke. Interestingly, Ebay arent.

And "officially" , we are out of recession, as the economy grew (albeit by 0.1%) in Q4 of 2009. So technically, we are out of it.

Hopefully this will teach people a lesson not to spend WAAAY over the odds on things, borrow so much and "live for today" as much. It was only about 15 years ago that everyday people got brand new cars all the time.

People can blame the banks and yes, they probably shouldnt of lent tso much, but who spent the money?

I remember reading an article last year in Glamour or Company or something about the recession which totally focused on women with high paid jobs.
It was a serious article (I thought it was joking for a while) about how it's hit them hard as they've had to give up certain luxuries - like manicures, weekly spray tans, weekly hair appointments etc. - and that because they were used to the luxurious lifestyle they've been majorly affected.
I'm sorry, but losing a spray tan a week is in no comparison with losing a job. It made them all out to be damsels in distress, and was really trying to give advice to the poor women that were having breakdowns without their perfect nails.

It made me feel ill. Fair enough, they've worked hard and deserve to earn a decent living... but moaning about such insignificant matters really pisses me off.
I wish my family had spent the money when we had the chance ha.
